About 300 people were reported missing Wednesday after a ferry sank in waters off South Korea 's coast guard said , in what could be the worst disaster in peacetime country in nearly 20 years .The ferry was carrying 459 people , of which 164 were rescued , members of the Coast Guard said. Authorities confirmed the deaths of two people after the shuttle will tip heavily and sank in apparently calm conditions off the southwest coast of South Korea.The Ministry of Public Safety and Administration had previously reported the rescue of 368 people and said around 100 were still missing .However, later described these figures as wrong , turning what initially seemed like a successful rescue operation in a potentially disastrous incident.The causes of the accident were not immediately clear , but some survivors said the boat appeared to have suffered some kind of impact."
