CHARGES RISE AGAINST ATTEMPTED MURDER A CHILD OF 9 MONTHS
A Pakistani court on Saturday lifted the attempted murder charges filed by police against a nine month old baby, a case that highlighted the aberrations of the Pakistani judicial system. Baby, Musa Mohamad, was arrested in early February with other family members, accused of throwing stones at employees of the gas company investigating the manipulation of counters in the suburbs of Lahore (east). In its report, the police Kashif Muhammad, who attended the scene, described such acts of attempted murder and summoned to appear about 30 people, including the baby crying in the arms of his grandfather, Muhammad Yasin. A widely mediated episode that ridiculed the Pakistani judicial system. The court opened a judicial investigation to see how the police could file such charges against a baby. The charges were in total contradiction with Pakistani law, which stipulates that the minimum age of criminal responsibility from seven to twelve years in 2013, except in cases of terrorism. The grandfather, Muhammad Yasin, withdrew the demand for bail for the baby. Yasin and four others, including his son Muhammad Imran, are involved in this case.
